This card was from the collection of NARCISO MADRAZO one of the first settlers of SANTA ISABEL DE LAS LAJAS... Santa Isabel de las Lajas: Cabecera del municipio. Cabecera de su termino municipal. Esta importante fundación se debe al acuerdo del ayuntamiento de Cienfuegos, el cual donó dos caballerías de tierra de la hacienda las Lajas, siendo gobernador de aquella ciudad el señor Alejandro de Clouet. Sus primeros pobladores fueron los señores Narciso Madrazo, Alejo y Felipe de la Cruz, José y Joaquín Mora, José Benítez, Marcos Gil, Juan Marsillan y Pedro Borroso, de los cuales, además, salió la idea de la fundación y sus directivas generales. A expensas de esos vecinos y de otros nuevos se edificó una ermita bajo la advocación de san Antonio en 1846 y erigida en parroquia dos años más tarde. El cementerio se construyó en 1851. El juzgado se constituyó en 1866. La primitiva iglesia fue ensanchada y renovada en 1867, a expensas de los vecinos, con un costo de 25,000 pesos y se bendijo el 17 de mayo de 1879. Santa Isabel de las Lajas, generalmente llamada Lajas, está situada en un llano arenoso y elevado y siempre seco, aun en la estación de la lluvias, siendo su temperamento saludable y suave.

The Pharmacy the Meeting, which but late comprised of the called company Droguería Sarrá, fué established in 1853 in Havana, Cuba, by Valentin Catalá, Jose Sarrá  and Catalá, Antonio Gonzalez and  Jose Sarrá and Valldejuli in order to group in a same site the pharmacies alopática and homeopática.
Under the trusteeship of the Dr Ernesto Jose Sarrá, son of Jose Sarrá and Valldejuli,       Ernesto J. Sarrá the Droguería Sarrá got to be droguería greater of Cuba and Latin America until year 1960 when a communist government confiscated all the private companies.
	During its history, the Droguería Sarrá received numerous prizes and honors:
	In 1881, His Majesty Alfonso XII of Spain granted to the Dr Jose to him Sarrá the honorary title of "Farmace'utico and Droguero of the Real House" and the use of the Shield of Real Arms in the samples, invoices and labels of the Droguería Sarrá .
In 1934, the Congress of the Republic of Cuba granted to the Droguería Sarrá the use to him of the Shield of the Republic in the samples, invoices and labels.
(Medal Sarrá Prize)	The Sarrá Prize , testimony to the academica excellence in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Havana, was granted once to the year in solemn ceremony.

Bajo la tutela del Dr. Ernesto José Sarrá, hijo de José Sarrá y Valldejuli, 

     Ernesto J. Sarrá

la Droguería Sarrá llegó a ser la droguería más grande de Cuba y de Latino América hasta el año 1960 cuando un gobierno comunista confiscó todas las empresas privadas.

En el año 1934, el Congreso de la República de Cuba le concedió a la Droguería Sarrá el uso del Escudo de la República en las muestras, facturas y etiquetas.

  El Premio Sarrá , testimonio a la excelencia academica en la Facultad de Farmacia de la Universidad de La Habana, se otorgaba una vez al año en ceremonia solemne.

Situada en la Habana Vieja, la Droguería Sarrá ocupaba más de 45 edificios con más de 40,000 metros cuadrados de área.

Las Naciones Unidas designó al edificio principal de la Droguería Sarrá, localizado en la esquina de Teniente Rey y Compostela, como Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad.
